Chinese Sweet and Sour Chicken

I love making Chinese food in a desi way and I absolutely love sweet and sour dishes. Here is the recipe for this dish.

  • 250gm Chicken Cut in cubes
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp White pepper
  • 3 tbsp Corn flour
  • ½ tsp Baking powder
  • 1 Egg
  • Oil for deep frying
  • For Sauce:
  • Two cups water
  • 1 Chicken Stock Cube
  • Salt (you don’t need if you are using a chicken stock cube)
  • ½ tsp White pepper
  • 3 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce
  • ½ cup Ketchup
  • 1 Carrot  (cut into round slices)
  • 1 Capsicum (cut into square cubes)
  • 1 Tomato (seeds removed cut into cubes)
  • 1 Onion  (cut into cubes)
  • ½ cup Pineapple  (cubes)
  • ¼ cup Oil
  • 3 tbsp Corn flour mixed with some water

Coat chicken pieces in batter made of egg, white pepper, salt and corn flour and refrigerate for 1/2-1 hour.  Deep fry chicken pieces but don’t let these change the color. Remove from oil and keep aside.

Take a little oil in a separate wok and fry the vegetable pieces in it and then remove from oil and keep aside. Now put in all the sauce ingredients except cornflour and also add chicken pieces. Cook the sauce and chicken together till the chicken is completely cooked through. Now thicken the sauce with corn flour and also put the vegetables back into the wok. Serve these with egg fried rice or garlic rice.
