Black Pepper Karahi

This is an easy, tasty and very yummy karahi.


  • 750g skinless Chicken with bones cut into small pieces
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 300g Yogurt
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1.5 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 4 Green Chillies (cut in big chunks)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 cup Oil


Put oil in a wok and put it on the stove on medium heat.

Add onion to it and fry till it turns golden.

Add ginger garlic paste and fry a little.

Add chicken pieces and fry for 5-7 minutes on high heat.

After that add cumin powder and coriander powder and keep on frying for another 4-5 minutes till the chicken starts turning golden.

Then add salt, black pepper, green chillies, yoghurt and fresh coriander leaves.

Cover the wok with a lid and let it simmer on low-medium heat for 20 minutes.

After that turn the heat high and fry it well, till the water gets completely dry and oil completely gets separated from the masala.

Squeeze juice of half lemon and sprinkle some freshly crushed black pepper on it.

Serve it with roti or naan.
