About Maryam Nasim

Maryam Nasim is a creative work at home mommy from Lahore,Pakistan.

After getting Gujranwala board Merit scholarship in Matriculation and National Talent Scholarship in FA she took admission in Bachelors of Fine Arts in Punjab University Lahore which is one of the most prestigious art institutes of Pakistan .There she got training of traditional drawing and painting methods.

She was awarded with Punjab University Merit Scholarship at the time of admission, later she secured second position in her BFA and third position in her MFA exams.

Maryam participated in several art exhibitions and competitions. Her work was displayed at Alhamra Art Gallery Lahore, Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore and V.M. Art Gallery Karachi.

She won second prize at Art extravaganza 2004 held at pearl continental Hotel, Lahore.
In her final thesis work Maryam Nasim developed a new technique and created a series titled connection, fusion and confusion. This was appreciated by the critics in the following words,

Maryam Nasim presents something new,something not seen usually.It is a combination of ceramic painting. It is something three dimensional but not exactly sculpture, something which has influenced our thinking with mixture and change. (Sajid Abbas- The Nation)

Mariam Naseem's series titled Connection,Confusion and Fusion was an amalgam of ceramic pieces created by her that were glued on painted wooden surfaces. Through a juxtaposition of ethnic motifs and modern symbols from the world of technology, she had attempted to create a symbolic representation of both fusion as well a sense of confusion with regard to one's cultural identity and direction in life. Apart from paintings, Maryam is keenly interested in making computer animations, graphics and ceramics.
